These flowers are in amongst the veges, notice little fingers, yes my darling Lily May has to touch all of flowers, thankfully she hasn't started to pull them off phew

Novemeber Update

I finally took my trusty camera along with me while I spent an hour in the garden this morning, here are some lovely photos of the progress so far, the photos are mostly of the new permanent bed and one is of the spuds under a grow cover:-)I had too many photos to post on this post so check them out on the other 2/3 posts coming shortly :-)

New Bed

Notice the new bed, exclusively for permanent flowering plants ranging from berries to herbs to daisies. Hubby and I also seeded so so many seeds during the weekend, it took an hour, I can only imagine how long it would have taken me on my own!!!

Spring has Sprung

Hello gosh its been awhile since I last bloggered.
Only recently we've been to Melbourne - well, 2hrs north of, had a lovely time. I've been doing a whole lot of growing - baby wise (currently 16weeks) I felt just too ill to write/do anything in the first trimester but am starting to feel better in the second :-) :-)
Here is a photo of the latest developments, its just starting to come along nicely. I'm in the process of building up flowering plants/herbs to attract all the beneficial insects. It feels like two steps forward and one step back with this dreaded cold snap we are experiencing, thankfully the vege beds are sheltered from this horrid wind.
I'm not going too mad this year and focusing on vege's we know how to grow. I'm going to build on the experience little by little each year :-)
I've planted so far (mostly from seed)
Strawberries
Tomatoes - cherry, oxheart and beefsteak
parsley
basil
spinach
silverbeet
carrots
spring onions
leeks
beetroot
beans - tall and dwarf
marigolds
cosmos
calendula
loads and loads of herbs
potatoes - Agria
cucumber
pumpkin - Jack Be Little
nasturtium's

The Chickens have been laying well, 3 a day from 4 hens. They are doing a wonderful job tilling in the alfala and pea :-)and of course supplying us with loads of poop.
I will post more pictures soon.

Chicken Fodder

This pic shows our beds in rotation for our lovely hens. We sow alfalfa and a mixture of pea and oats - the chickens love it and do such a great job turning the soil over for me :-)

Update on the new vege bed

this took FOREVER mostly due to the massive amounts of rain we endured during June and July months grrrr! Not long to go now :-)

Chickens have started to lay yippppy

Its official one of our girls has started to lay :-) I couldn't believe my eyes when I found a tiny egg in the nesting box 5 days ago - it was so so exciting!! Now I've become obsessed in egg collection. She was a mid-day layer but now has settled into laying one every morning :-) we are so proud!!

Guess which one is ours hehehe

The tank is in YAY!!!

People the tank is in!! we have not had one problem too! Chris managed to slide the tank easily into place with out a hitch!! We have the hose underground along the fence line with the tap situation by the chicken house - a very handy place to have it :-)

Our rain water tank site

Here where you can see a massive mud hole is where hubby intends to put our new rain water tank. Hubby pushed roughly 50 loads of dirt to our next proposed vege patch. Its taken a total of two weekends worth of back breaking digging, and a rock breaker OMG what a mission!
